President Obama won’t wear one… so I’ll wear two!
It’s not known if President Obama will wear an American Flag Lapel pin to the inauguration. Sources say it’s unlikely, but there will be a very patriotic theme on and off the stage wear he will give his indelible speech. Obama got off to a rough start in his campaign with the whole flag pin debacle. “I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest,” Obama said in the interview. “Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism.” While Obama has a valid point, I would argue, though a small portion, displaying the American Flag is part of an outward display of Patriotism. Yes, actions do speak louder than words or symbolic icons. We will get to see what Obama’s actions will be in 2009 and beyond. Until then, I’m going to display my American Flag, and on inauguration day, I will wear two American Flag Lapel pins… just in case Obama won’t wear his.
